Dr. Jo Groene is an educator, researcher, and consultant working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, qualitative methods, and inclusive pedagogy. Her career began during the original dot-com boom, where she worked as both a programmer and designer—an experience that seeded her lifelong commitment to bridging technology and education. That early immersion in tech shaped her approach to learning innovation, leading to collaborations with Silicon Valley partners, development of early Alexa skills, and applied work with AI training firms such as Scale AI and SuperAnnotate AI.

With over two decades of experience across K–12, higher education, and the nonprofit sector, Jo brings a grounded, trauma-informed lens to some of the most urgent questions surrounding educational technology. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in emerging technologies, and her scholarship explores AI authorship, ethical data practices, and the cognitive demands of digital collaboration.

Her current work documents a real-time, co-evolutionary collaboration with a dialogic AI system, positioning it as both research partner and pedagogical tool. This project investigates how AI can reduce emotional and cognitive friction in the writing process, particularly for students navigating academic anxiety, linguistic marginalization, or low-confidence learning profiles. Her work has drawn interest from leaders in philanthropy, policy, and defense.

Jo has supported AI policy development at the university level and continues to research from within the industry, analyzing tool design, bias mitigation, and platform behavior while predicting next-move trends in educational AI.

Through Resonance Consulting, Jo offers strategic workshops, faculty coaching, and keynote talks for institutions seeking to build thoughtful, equity-driven AI fluency. Her work equips educators and researchers to integrate AI in ways that preserve human voice, deepen reflection, and enhance learner engagement.
